Kanta-Häme Pelastuslaitos

Kanta-Häme Emergency Services Opens in a new window is one of the 22 regional fire and rescues services in Finland. The Kanta-Häme Regional Emergency Service was created in January 2004 after a substantial re-organisation of the rescue services in Finland. Prior to January 2004 there were more than 450 local fire services in Finland.

Kanta-Häme Regional Emergency Services is located in the southern part of Finland about 100 kilometers from the capital city Helsinki. It operates in the Kanta-Häme County area, which is 5706 square kilometres and has 170.000 inhabitants.

More than 600 people work for the service from 29 fire stations. Only about 130 individuals are full-time members of staff working within 5 whole time fire stations. The rest of the Service is made up of volunteer fire fighters working in 24 fire stations throughout the County. There are approximately 3000 rescue missions each year in the Kanta-Häme County area. The Service also has medical response units that respond to 17.448 incidents each year.
